Dr. John Cambridge has spent his career blurring the line between rigorous science and real-world impact. With a Ph.D. in Entomology from Rutgers University, he’s not only a specialist in arthropods—he’s a pioneer in how they’re used to educate and inspire the public.
Since 2016, John has founded and scaled more than half a dozen businesses centered around science, education, and community outreach. His unique talent? Designing and delivering unforgettable live-animal presentations, and training others to do the same.
As the current CEO of Village Edu, a nonprofit zoo initiative in the Bethesda/D.C. area, John is reimagining what science education can be. Village Edu doesn’t just teach kids about pollinators, ecosystems, and biodiversity—it equips them with the tools to do something about it. Through interactive programming, community-driven data collection, and scientifically grounded lessons, John and his team are creating the next generation of conservation leaders.
What drives him? A belief that education should be actionable, and that ethical leadership means never sacrificing long-term impact for short-term gain.
When he’s not working on lesson development or navigating licensing for his animal ambassadors, you’ll find John mentoring young educators, training staff at Village Edu’s facility, or engaging with families in communities across the Mid-Atlantic.
“Science done right is fun. Education done right is empowering. That’s our standard.”
